About the role
AGI General Contracting is a family-owned commercial general contractor with more than 45 years of experience delivering successful projects across various sectors. The Safety Manager plays a crucial role in supporting projects from planning through completion, promoting safety, and fostering a proactive safety culture.Responsibilities
- Lead and administer AGI's company-wide Safety Program, including the Injury & Illness Prevention Program (IIPP).
- Promote a proactive safety culture through leadership, coaching, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Maintain a visible safety presence by conducting regular jobsite safety inspections, audits, and observations.
- Identify hazards, conduct job hazard analyses (JHAs) and project-specific risk assessments, and work with project teams to implement effective corrective actions.
- Develop, schedule, and deliver safety training, new hire orientations, and required regulatory training.
- Maintain current knowledge of OSHA, SWPPP, and other applicable regulations, ensuring company compliance and adoption of industry best practices.
- Maintain employee training records, certifications, OSHA logs, safety documentation, and other required regulatory records.
- Lead the reporting, investigation, and documentation of workplace injuries, near misses, vehicle accidents, property damage, and other safety incidents, ensuring timely corrective actions.
- Monitor safety performance metrics, evaluate program effectiveness, prepare reports for leadership, and recommend improvements to policies, procedures, and safety initiatives.
- Build strong relationships with employees, subcontractors, and project teams while supporting company-wide safety goals and fostering a culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5+ years of commercial construction safety experience, including responsibility for multiple concurrent projects.
- Thorough knowledge of OSHA construction safety regulations and industry best practices.
- Working knowledge of SWPPP requirements and Best Management Practices (BMPs).
- Strong understanding of commercial construction means, methods, sequencing, and jobsite operations.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification.
- CPR/First Aid/AED Certification.
- CPR/First Aid/AED Instructor Certification preferred.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to travel between project sites.
- Good communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams).
- Experience with CMiC, or similar construction management software preferred.

- Current CPR/First Aid/AED Certification.
