About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Lead Estimator to lead the estimating department and oversee the complete bid process for commercial construction projects. This role is responsible for identifying bidding opportunities, managing estimating activities, cultivating relationships with owners and subcontractors, mentoring the estimating team, and preparing accurate, competitive project estimates. Project experience in hospitality, multi-family, and commercial construction is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identify new bidding opportunities and support ongoing business development efforts.
  • Lead and manage the estimating team throughout the bid process.
  • Train and mentor estimating department team members.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope.
  • Organize and lead initial and recurring bid review meetings.
  • Oversee preparation of Invitations to Bid (ITBs) and approve bid documents.
  • Direct subcontractor solicitation efforts through calls and email outreach.
  • Track bidder participation and monitor bid coverage across all trade divisions.
  • Review bid tracking reports, monitor estimating progress, and provide updates to leadership.
  • Identify underperforming trade divisions and take proactive corrective action.
  • Manage department email communications, subcontractor inquiries, RFIs, addenda, and bid documentation.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs, estimate labor, materials, general conditions, self-performed work, and subcontractor scopes.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, overhead calculations, profit analysis, and project cost breakdowns.
  • Review subcontractor and supplier proposals for completeness and compliance.
  • Select qualified subcontractor bids while maintaining ethical estimating practices and company standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Construction-related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial construction estimating experience.
  • Experience leading bid processes and estimating teams.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability to pass a drug test and comply with company vehicle safety requirements.
