About the role

The Commercial Banking Officer focuses on small business relationships with aggregate exposure up to $1 million. They are responsible for soliciting, negotiating, underwriting, and coordinating the closing of small business loans, commercial real estate loans, and Agency guaranteed loans in compliance with the Bank's lending policies and procedures while maintaining strong credit quality. This role develops business deposit relationships, promotes the Bank through customer relations, and refers customers to appropriate staff for new services. The position works with designated market branch business development teams to attain Bank and branch goals through active participation in sales activities, providing leadership, training, and support to less experienced branch staff.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in business development activities by representing the Bank in community and civic functions to enhance the Bank’s image and develop additional business.
  • Manage existing commercial relationships, monitoring for risk and credit quality consistent with Bank loan policy.
  • Solicit new business, fostering a positive sales environment.
  • Interview prospective applicants, gather specified information for loan or credit applications, and resolve questions regarding application details.
  • Meet with existing or potential customers to negotiate loan terms and conditions.
  • Gather and analyze information to present financing requests, obtaining required approvals according to policy guidelines.
  • Identify cross-sell opportunities for the Bank’s products and services, including cash management, commercial leasing, merchant services, commercial credit card services, and investment and wealth management services.
  • Coordinate processing of approved loans to ensure compliance with agreements, customer needs, and Bank lending policies.
  • Ensure certification or deletion of collateral is handled by appropriate personnel.
  • Approve loan payments, draws from lines of credit, and fund transfers within specified limits.
  • Assist in meeting annual deposit and loan growth goals.
  • Provide the highest level of customer service while adhering to the Bank’s Core Values and Service Standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience in commercial banking; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain punctuality and use time effectively.
  • Perform duties conscientiously and cooperatively.
  • Maintain a professional appearance.
  • Comply with all Bank policies and procedures, including BSA and Information Security policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of Bank operations and customer information.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Must be able to spend extended periods operating a computer keyboard and working at a computer monitor.
  • Requires periodic travel to client locations and within the Bank’s geographic area.
  • Workspaces are generally comfortable and pleasant.

Pay

The budgeted salary range for this position is $78,000 to $90,000. Final compensation will be based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, internal equity, and business needs.
