Commercial Banking Assistant Banking Officer
About the role
The Commercial Banking Assistant Banking Officer position involves working with Officers and their client base to facilitate loan requests, typically up to $7 Million, and loan and deposit servicing requests. This role deals with the most complex type of loans and requires expertise in commercial lending. Key responsibilities include processing loan applications, coordinating loan closings, reviewing settlement statements, and ensuring timely payments.
Responsibilities
- Contact and meet with clients to collect necessary information to process loan requests.
- Review and assess necessary documents at the time of loan application, adhering to Republic compliance standards.
- Submit and process commercial loan requests in collaboration with the credit/processing/underwriting area, maintaining communication with relevant parties.
- Manage loan renewals, annual reviews, and gather financial statements and covenant documentation.
- Handle client inquiries, problem-solving, and assisting with transfers and payments.
- Ensure proper setup of first and second payments via ACH or billing to prevent defaults.
- Complete servicing tasks such as file maintenance, BOB maintenance, and payoff requests.
- Work on renewing matured loans and conducting annual reviews for business clients.
- Avoid 1st and 2nd payment defaults by setting up payments correctly.
- Assist in preparing sales and production reports.
- Prepare and submit Fee Waivers as per LO/Management requests.
- Prepare Summary of Terms and Commitment Letters as required by Bank policy.
- Maintain a working knowledge of compliance requirements and actively learn new regulations.
- Model and foster behaviors that support the Bank’s values and corporate culture.
- Willingly perform all other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Sales and customer service skills preferred.
- Minimum 2 years banking experience in processing retail and/or commercial loans required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and internet applications required.
