Commercial Auto/GL Claims Specialist
About the role
The Commercial GL & Auto Claims Specialist position at Amerisure is responsible for handling claims that involve risk transfer, subcontractors, and general contractors. This role offers a hybrid or remote work arrangement, with office visits expected for candidates living near an office location.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate proactively with agencies, policyholders, and internal stakeholders on complex claims.
- Investigate losses, identify coverage, evaluate liability and damages, and review legal pleadings.
- Develop plans to conclude claims, evaluate damages, engage in negotiations, and settle claims according to guidelines.
- Establish and maintain proper reserves for claims to reflect financial exposure.
- Determine and engage external resources as needed to execute resolutions while controlling costs.
- Address contractual indemnifications and additional insured coverage issues.
- Review and interpret commercial insurance policies and communicate coverage issues verbally and in writing.
- Participate on cross-functional teams to identify and resolve issues and design/implement solutions to prevent future occurrences.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in insurance or a related field.
- At least 6 years of experience handling general liability and/or bodily injury claims of high complexity/severity.
- Experience with contractual indemnification and additional insured coverages.
- AIC or SCLA certification preferred.
- Ability to obtain appropriate state licensing as required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel overnight up to 10% and daily between locations.

- Proven ability to build positive relationships and partnerships within the organization and with external customers.
- Experience managing litigated claims and leveraging legal knowledge.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
