Commercial Attorney
About the Role
We are seeking a Commercial Attorney to support global retail operations and a broad range of worldwide strategic projects for our client. In this role, you will independently own projects, provide practical, risk-aware legal advice, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to help the business achieve its objectives. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex commercial transactions across technology, software, hardware, intellectual property, licensing, and marketing matters.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including technology, software, hardware, intellectual property, and licensing transactions.
- Advise on indemnities, limitations of liability, and other complex risk-allocation provisions.
- Translate technical and business requirements into practical contractual protections.
- Partner with engineering, privacy, litigation, marketing, retail, and other business teams.
- Provide pragmatic, risk-aware legal advice that helps the business achieve its objectives.
- Support marketing and advertising matters, including sales claims, consumer-protection requirements, and unfair or deceptive practices.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of relevant legal experience, ideally including 3–4 years at a law firm.
- Strong commercial contract drafting and negotiation skills; experience beyond routine procurement agreements is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage projects, exercise sound judgment, anticipate issues, and propose practical solutions.
- Collaborative, proactive, and comfortable exercising judgment in areas without clear-cut answers.
- JD degree or equivalent and licensed to practice law in an applicable jurisdiction.
Preferred Skills
- In-house and law firm experience preferred; candidates without in-house experience should have strong law firm experience.
- Experience in the technology or retail industry.
- Experience supporting marketing and advertising matters.
Compensation
The estimated total compensation for full-time Axiom attorney roles is $104,500-325,000 per year and for non-attorney roles is $71,250-309,750 per year. Compensation decisions are based on various factors, including, but not limited to, experience, skills, certifications, location, and business needs.
