Job Duties
- Compiles medical records (e.g. Charts inmate appointments, assign medical record numbers to new OSU Hospital inmates for billing purposes, assist RN’s in organizing oncology patient medical charts, Input patient/inmate medical information on computer, assemble daily admission, Input scheduled surgeries into computer & notify institutions of surgeries., Etc).
- Type all scheduling forms for all CMC clinic specialty appointments & assist in scheduling special testing at OSU
- Type supplies orders
- Assemble & distribute daily admissions, round trips & bed roster papers
- Assemble round trip envelopes for next day appointments at OSU hospital
- Compiles clinic list daily for RN’s & compile monthly backlog statistic for CMC & OSU appointments
- File medical records & reports; answer questions on scheduling inmates; distribute daily rosters, discharges & scheduled consults; notify institutions of next day discharges; fax request information to various institutions as needed; daily backup of computer records; open, sort & distribute mail; answer telephone & take messages.
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of medical records technology; JCAH and Medicare/Medicaid regulation governing medical record keeping*
- Requirements governing confidentiality of patient information*
- Medical terminology
- Knowledge of health information technology; JCAH & Medicare/Medicaid regulations governing medical record keeping*

- Skill in use of electronic typewriter and/or IBM compatible PC with windows software, and calculator
- Skill in use of typewriter &/or word processor & calculator
Minimum Qualifications
- 3 courses or 9 mos. exp. in records management
- 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in medical terminology
- 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in typing
Supplemental Information
- The final applicant selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis prior to an appointment to test for illegal drug use.
