We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Data Center Commercial / Industrial Appliance (Kitchen) Technician to join our team and drive our relationships with hyperscale clients to new heights.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on all kitchen equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operation.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system issues on appliances such as ovens, steamers, dishwashers, mixers, fryers, and industrial refrigeration.
- Replace worn parts and components, such as belts, motors, seals, gaskets, igniters, valves, and control panels.
- Maintain and repair commercial HVAC and exhaust/ventilation systems used in kitchen environments to ensure proper airflow and safety.
- Perform temperature calibrations and pressure checks to meet health and safety compliance standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of equipment maintenance areas in accordance with food service safety protocols.
- Respond promptly to equipment failures to minimize disruption to food service operations.
- Provide after-hours support for emergency kitchen equipment issues as needed.
- Assist in planning and executing temporary solutions during extended outages or major repairs.
- Conduct minor electrical diagnostics and repairs on kitchen equipment, including checking voltage, connections, and fuses.
- Perform minor plumbing repairs related to kitchen equipment (e.g., water lines, drainage, steam connections).
- Assist with general maintenance tasks around the facility as needed to support kitchen operations and building safety.
- Maintain detailed service logs and equipment records using a CMMS or similar tracking system.
- Track and manage spare parts, tools, and consumables related to kitchen equipment.
- Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, PPE use, and compliance with OSHA and food safety standards.
- Assist with kitchen equipment upgrades, energy-efficiency initiatives, and layout changes.
- Support seasonal maintenance such as deep cleaning of ventilation hoods and re-calibration of temperature-critical units.
- Cook with vendors for major repairs, installations, or equipment replacements.
Qualifications
- EPA/ 608 license required
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a commercial or industrial kitchen repair setting
- Minimum 4 years of HVAC maintenance preferred
- Strong diagnostic and repair skills across mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems related to kitchen appliances
- Certification in commercial appliance repair or equivalent field preferred
- Electrical or refrigeration certifications are a plus
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage resources effectively, and adapt to changing priorities
- Working knowledge of OSHA, food safety (HACCP), and manufacturer-specific safety standards
- Ability to quickly identify root causes and implement effective solutions under pressure
- Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems and Microsoft and Google Applications
- Clear and professional communication for coordinating with kitchen staff, vendors, and management
- Proven experience in maintenance operations in a commercial or industrial facility, with a focus on HVAC or Electrical systems
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, or HVAC certification and experience with a proficiency in handling refrigerants
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, up to 40lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs to access elevated equipment
- Ability to stand for long periods of time in various work environments
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for equipment related tasks
- Basic physical fitness to respond quickly to emergency situations and navigate areas quickly
- Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity for working with small components and connectors
- Clear vision, with or without correction, to perform tasks requiring attention to detail and precision while wearing safety glasses
- Ability to differentiate between color-coded warning signs, labels, and cables
- Ability to work in environments with a wide variety temperature inside a facility
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, rain, or snow
- Capability to work in environments with elevated noise levels while wearing hearing protection
- Possession of a valid driver’s license for work-related travel, as required
