About the role
Exus Renewables North America is seeking a Commercial Analyst to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in M&A, FP&A, and Commercial domains, with experience in wholesale or retail electricity.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic settlement and invoicing activities under supervision, including shadow settlements and validation of final settlements for standard ISO, hedge, and REC contracts; support communication with counterparties to facilitate alignment and escalate discrepancies as necessary.
- Collaborate with Accounting on invoicing, payments, and providing revenue reconciliations for monthly reporting.
- Support communications with asset management clients and offtakers, building an understanding of how market conditions and events influence project revenues.
- Verify ISO bilateral trade scheduling and support execution of Day-Ahead/Real-Time Scheduling.
- Assist in drafting transaction confirmations (power swaps, REC sales, etc.).
- Analyze, reconcile, and support evaluation of confirmations for accuracy, ensuring proper amounts and Commercial terms.
- Collaborate with Asset Management and Accounting to deliver investor reporting, including assisting with the explanation of budget vs. actual variances as well as the related market analysis.
- Maintain revenue models for reporting to internal and external stakeholders, with the goal of suggesting improvements related to efficiencies.
- Develop an understanding of revenue calculation methodologies and support internal verification of financial impacts.
- Analyze energy market data and trends to build knowledge of financial performance drivers for solar, wind and other assets.
- Read contracts to understand basic Commercial obligations; record and communicate obligations to Management and Contract Administration.
- Manage REC trading and tracking system activity (PJM GATS, NCRETS, WREGIS, TX REC etc.).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, economics, or related field.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in M&A, FP&A, and Commercial domains required; past experience working in the financial or energy industries highly preferred; experience directly supporting Back-Office functions in wholesale or retail electricity preferred.
- Experience preparing, reviewing, and auditing complex models in Excel.
- Proven competence in MS Excel-based modeling, financial planning and analytics.
- Knowledge of ISO market operations and settlements, especially in PJM, MISO and ERCOT preferred.
- Basic understanding of energy markets, solar technology, and wind technology.
- Ability to analyze and extract relevant information within contracts.
- Ability to extract, manipulate, and summarize large amounts of data.
