About the Role
The Comfort Advisor is a critical outside sales role reporting directly to the General Manager, supporting HomeServe’s goal to dramatically increase installation revenue growth (Heating, Cooling, and Water Heaters) within the Energy Services business. This position collaborates with Marketing, Business Development, Service Delivery, and other teams to develop and execute sales strategies that increase market share for traditional heating and cooling installation volumes.
The core of this position is to work with homeowners and property owners to address their home heating and cooling needs. The role offers a combination of base salary and uncapped commissions, with average earnings between $115,000 - $165,000+ per year based on performance.
Responsibilities
- Lead efforts to sell installation and future products to residential customers, homeowner organizations, professional organizations, small commercial clients, or other targeted clients within an assigned territory.
- Identify and follow up on leads generated through professional organizations, trade shows, community events, technicians, advertising, and other techniques.
- Conduct post-sale follow-up to ensure service expectations are met and generate referrals.
- Make sales presentations and proposals to prospects, highlighting the advantages of HomeServe’s products and services over competitors.
- Help develop sales processes and collateral for closing leads generated by demand marketing, call centers, and field engineers.
- Conduct market analysis to determine HomeServe’s competitive position regarding products, pricing, and service levels.
- Uncover and leverage customer and competitor insights to enhance product offerings and customer value.
- Ensure the profitability of both product sales and installation.
- Attend all required company training sessions and maintain system documentation for all jobs.
- Establish and coordinate subcontractor installation activities while maintaining professional business relationships.
- Utilize manufacturers and vendors to support complex installations.
- Use ESS sales proposal software for standard jobs; consult supervisors for non-standard pricing.
- Complete and submit all required financing paperwork and ensure equipment is ready for scheduled installations.
- Coordinate new installations, including site visits and customer education.
- Follow up after every installation to confirm customer satisfaction and obtain referrals.
Essential Functions
- Perform in-home assessments to determine customer HVAC needs (40% of time).
- Provide quotes, pricing, recommendations, and estimates based on assessments (20% of time).
- Educate customers with a pleasant attitude and provide excellent customer service (10% of time).
- Manage and maintain sales metrics (30% of time).
Requirements
- High School Diploma.
- Competency in MS Windows, MS Word, and MS Outlook.
- Ability to travel up to 100% of the time within the market.
- Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven sales, negotiation, and closing skills.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to take ownership.
- Ability to work independently.
