ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and provide the aero/thermal requirements for industrial gas turbine machine combustion components and systems to meet performance and design criteria, such as combustion stability, operability, emissions, pressure drop, life and cost.
- Support commercial installation and operation of systems developed.
- Utilize appropriate design/analysis tools, such as Performance Cycle decks, Flow circuit programs, Heat Transfer, CAD, Detailed Kinetics, CFD, Python, or Microsoft Excel modeling.
- Support technical definition on engineering programs and use/direct appropriate use of design and analysis tools.
- Support high pressure rig tests and engine field validation of prototype systems and commercial products designed and developed at PSM.
- Support tool development.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Education & Training: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical or other relevant degree. Master’s Degree and/or PhD preferred.
- Specialization: Thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, heat transfer or combustion.
- EHS Training: Must complete EHS assigned regulatory training for work area as described by PSM’s EHS Training Matrix.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- Experience: 3+ years in 1D/3D aerothermal modeling techniques, 3+ years in 3D CFD modeling turbulent/multiphase reactive flow, 1+ years in Experimental set-ups and systems, 3+ years in the aerothermal design, analysis, and manufacturing industrial/aircraft gas turbine engine components, 3+ years in the lean, premix combustion system designs and the tradeoffs between emissions and dynamics, 1+ years in applied knowledge of various manufacturing processes, including additive manufacturing techniques.
- Skills: Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, strong analytical decision-making and organizational skills, ability to perform hands-on fieldwork.
