Job Description
The welder in this role performs non-supervisory work in welding metals and alloys. Responsibilities include:
- Determining welding techniques to use and selecting appropriate materials such as welding electrodes or rods.
- Planning and laying out work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, and work orders.
- Applying a variety of manual welding processes to make more difficult welds, including those in hard-to-reach areas that need to meet tight tolerances, strength, and other requirements.
- Ensuring welds are free from cracks, slag, or other defects and meet specifications and accepted trade standards.
- Reviewing final products to ensure welds are free from defects and meeting requirements.
- Subjecting welds to radiographic, magnetic particle, dye penetrant, pressure inspection, and other tests.
Requirements
- Knowledge of electric, gas, and other welding processes such as electron beam welding.
- Ability to apply these processes in manufacturing, repairing, modifying, rebuilding, and assembling various types of metal and alloy parts, equipment, systems, and structures.
- OSHA-10 certification is required. If not currently possessed, the company will provide training prior to employment.
