About the role
This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment plants, collection systems, drinking water facilities, and water distribution systems to ensure quality operations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain records and logs as required.
- Respond to customer complaints and questions.
- Perform laboratory testing and analysis to ensure compliance with established regulations.
- Troubleshoot problems and maintain system machinery and equipment in accordance with established O&M requirements and for emergency repairs.
- Inspect infrastructure and advise management regarding maintenance, operational and safety problems and recommend corrective action.
- Operate from established policies and occasionally develop practices or procedures to accomplish job requirements.
- Operate field, plant, laboratory and office hand, power and electronic equipment and machinery.
- Perform duties accurately and timely; make accurate mathematical calculations; perform accurate laboratory tests and analysis.
- Communicate effectively with the public, other employees and outside professionals.
- Maintain grounds and buildings.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two (2) years of underground utility installation and heavy equipment operation experience.
- Group III Wastewater Operator Certification.
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License.
- Cross Connection Specialist Certification.
- Wastewater Collection Specialist I certification.
- Water Distribution Manager II Certification.
Qualifications
- Valid WA State CDL with tanker endorsement.
- First Aid/CPR Certification.
- Confined Space Training Certification.
Skills
- Laws and regulations regarding the operation and maintenance of wastewater and drinking water systems.
- Technical components of wastewater and water processing.
- Acceptable personnel procedure and methods.
