Visionary Broadband, a division of Visionary Communications, Inc., is seeking a full-time Combination Technician to join the Installation, Tower, and Fiber Drop crews. This hourly position is one of the top service providers in the region.
Responsibilities
- Underground Drop
- Safely and efficiently install underground cables in residential and commercial environments using best practices to comply with local building codes.
- Operate trenching equipment such as a mini skid steer or walk-behind trencher.
- Locate existing buried copper and fiber facilities, comply with 811 (OneCall) requirements before digging, and safely work around other utilities.
- Load reel trailers with strand, fiber, or cable as required.
- Bury cable and conduit systems by operating blowing, plowing, digging, boring, and trenching equipment; pull fiber and cable through conduit systems.
- Installation/Repair
- Represent Visionary Broadband professionally while performing wireless and fiber internet installations, repairs, removals, service calls, and related field work.
- Participate in hands-on training with experienced team members to build skills in wireless and fiber internet, VoIP, cabling, equipment installation, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Develop foundational telecommunications knowledge, including customer connection installation, documentation, testing, and maintenance.
- Maintain excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Interact professionally with internal and external contacts, including co-workers, managers, outside contractors, vendors, and customers (both over the phone and in person).
- Use company tools, mobile applications, and work order systems to document completed work (training provided).
- Tower Technician
- Install equipment on towers.
- Assemble electronic equipment in racks/cabinets, including plumbing RF, wiring, and telecom installation of RF/ground/power/telecommunications cabling.
- Complete client and company checklists, photos, and test results; communicate findings to management via emails, FTP uploads, or web interfaces.
- Maintain network documentation with a high level of accuracy.
- Respond to tower-related or customer issues while on 24-hour “on-call” duty.
Requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; ability to quickly learn proprietary computer applications.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- A valid driver’s license and ability to be insured to drive a company vehicle (preferred).
- Flexibility to work outside standard 8 AM–5 PM hours and willingness to travel weekly.
- Willingness to travel within the region (Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado) 70% of the time (hotels and per diem provided for out-of-town travel). Generally home most weekends.
Physical Requirements
- Lift and carry up to and above 50 pounds.
- Work at tower heights for extended periods.
- Utilize fine motor coordination, clear speech, and good visual acuity.
- Continually use hand and finger dexterity; climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, or crawl.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
Pay
$23.50–$25.00 hourly wage.
