About the role

This 1.0 FTE/0.80 cFTE position for Assistant/Associate Professor will serve within the Section of Hematology, Oncology, and Bone Marrow Transplantation–Cellular Therapeutics (BMT-CT), providing both direct clinical care and strategic leadership for pediatric hematology/oncology services at Children’s Hospital Colorado, Colorado Springs (COS).

Responsibilities

• Manage inpatient, outpatient, and infusion care for pediatric CCBD and non-CCBD conditions; provide emergency care and triage/transfer.
• Write and execute all clinical orders including chemotherapy and blood products; supervise infusions and transfusions.
• Perform lumbar punctures, bone marrow procedures, skin biopsies, and other clinically indicated procedures.
• Collaborate with faculty and referring providers; provide education and resources for patients and families.
• Participate in clinical research protocols and academic/QI initiatives.
• Provide education for residents, fellows, APPs, nursing, and students.
• Lead clinical operations, develop standards of care, and optimize staffing and workflows.
• Ensure equitable call coverage and support seamless transitions across the CHCO system.
• Lead quality and safety initiatives; respond to reports and grievances.
• Champion high-quality documentation and partner with Informatics to optimize Epic.
• Participate in leadership meetings, tumor boards, and regional forums; support regional partnerships.
• Develop/review performance metrics; support cost containment and financial stewardship.
• Perform other mission-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO); must be board certified in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology after completion of an ACGME accredited pediatric Hematology/Oncology fellowship and maintenance of continuous certification without lapse.
• Active Colorado state license and DEA certification.
• Current compliance with human subjects research certifications and requirements without lapse.
• Minimum of 2 years of independent clinical experience in pediatric hematology/oncology with or without bone marrow transplant experience.

Qualifications

• Assistant Professor: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO); must be board certified/eligible in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and maintenance of continuous certification without lapse.
• Associate Professor: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO); must be board certified/eligible in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and maintenance of continuous certification without lapse.
• Minimum of 6 years of independent clinical experience in pediatric hematology/oncology with or without bone marrow transplant experience.
