Responsibilities

  • Forecast goals and objectives for the department and strive to meet them.
  • Assume full responsibility for center profit and loss (P&L) management, including following cash control and security procedures, managing supply and materials costs, managing staffing, and facilitating materials and supply ordering and management.
  • Provide leadership, management, and oversight to all center personnel, including hiring, training, developing, coaching, and promoting team members, as well as managing compensation and discipline.
  • Prepare and administer an annual operating budget for the body shop.
  • Ensure all personnel and team members understand all key performance indicators (KPIs) and are given the proper training and support to meet or exceed all KPIs consistently.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with insurance adjusters.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with customers to encourage repeat and referral business.
  • Monitor technicians' daily productivity reports and corresponding payroll records.
  • Provide fair estimates on costs and time required for bodywork.
  • Follow up on vendor service and performance.
  • Monitor progress and completion of vehicles in the shop, ensuring that proper repair and safety procedures are followed.
  • Maintain high-quality service repairs and minimize comebacks.
  • Conduct periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality.
  • Check quality of completed work.
  • Handle customer complaints immediately with a great sense of urgency.
  • Prepare final billing for completed repair orders.
  • Control accounts receivables for body repair work.
  • Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal and OSHA Right-to-Know, and provide necessary training.
  • Ensure that proper safety equipment is available and being used properly.
  • Facilitate and/or conduct technical training and send employees to appropriate training schools as needed.
  • Monitor the maintenance of paint booths, frame straightening equipment, and other large, fixed assets to ensure long-term usage and value.
  • Keep abreast of new equipment and tools available and recommend purchases.
  • Attend managers' meetings.
  • Maintain professional appearance.

Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Minimum of 3 years of management experience in the collision repair industry.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
