General Responsibilities

  • Aid Student Financial Aid Advisor in outreach activities like Resource Fairs, financial literacy events, and campus-related events.
  • Assist students with project-related duties.
  • Support the completion of financial aid applications and public benefits processes.
  • Develop expertise in financial aid programs and public benefit options to address a variety of student needs.
  • Provide information and support to community members seeking assistance with financial aid or related services.

Qualifications

  • GPA of 2.0
  • Maintain 6 credit hours each semester;
  • Enrolled in a degree program
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress;
  • Comply with college's confidentiality policy;
  • Pass background/drug screening;
  • Outstanding skills in: interacting with people, assisting with online applications, and researching information;
  • Exceptional skills in: making students feel comfortable discussing personal, private information;
  • Ability to prioritize student service experiences.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be 16 years or older, have work permit consent, and eligible to work in the United States;
  • Must be actively attending one of the City Colleges of Chicago;
  • Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit semester hours;
  • Must be pursuing an approved educational credential, degree, or certificate;
  • Must have and maintain a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA (waived for first semester new students);
  • Must be in “good standing” – no City Colleges of Chicago academic restrictions;
  • Must not be current Full or Part-time employees of the City Colleges of Chicago;
  • All positions are “employment at-will.”

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required or actively pursuing a GED at the City Colleges of Chicago;
  • Knowledge of City Colleges of Chicago;
  • Excellent oral communication skills;
  • Excellent customer service skills;
  • Promote a positive role model and favorable public image as City Colleges of Chicago;
  • Adhere to the City Colleges of Chicago Customer Services Excellence Standards;
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills;
  • Ability to relate to students from varying educational, cultural, and social backgrounds.

Pay

The salary is: $19.00/hour. The rate paid is in accordance with City Colleges approved salary scale.
