College Intern - Data Center Operations

Responsibilities
- Maintain IT systems and respond to error messages signaling malfunctions in communications of software and/or hardware according to documented procedures.
- Provide phone assistance to internal SRP clients with varying degrees of technical knowledge.
- Provide excellent customer service, demonstrating patience while effectively dealing with client problems.
- Perform problem-solving over the phone and determine appropriate course of problem escalation as required.
- Perform detailed inventory tracking procedures of data center IT assets.
Requirements
- Basic information technology knowledge such as infrastructure, network topology, or help desk support.
- Minimum 15 hours per week, up to a maximum of 40 hours per week.
Qualifications
- Preferred requirements include familiarity with:
- Critical thinking and problem solving.
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), Outlook, Exchange
- Windows Operating System
- Internet Explorer, to include understanding configuration and properties
- Networking, to include general knowledge of user accounts and login, FTP, dial-up/VPN, and Intranet vs. Internet
- Desktop hardware, including the ability to problem-solve hardware component issues
- Laptop hardware, including wireless
- Batch processing
Additional Information
Data Center Operations operates seven days a week, 24 hours a week, including weekends.
