College Faculty, Music Theory and Analysis

Responsibilities

Teach one or more undergraduate core courses and electives in both the undergraduate and graduate studies curricula.

Teaching load is typically three courses per semester.

Participate in department meetings, placement assessments, teaching assistant and fellow recruitment and placement, and departmental and school-wide committees.

Minimum Qualifications

• Doctorate (Ph.D. or D.M.A.) in music theory or in a closely-related field with substantive training in music theory and analysis.
• Degree must be in hand by time of appointment.
• Demonstrated success in college-level teaching.

Preferred Additional Qualifications

• Expertise in one or more of the following areas within music theory and analysis: scholarship, composition, and performance, and at least one area of special interest so that the applicant would be able to teach electives at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
