College Counselor Multi-Location (FAC3290)

About the role

Provide comprehensively mental health services for all Hutchinson Community College (HutchCC) students, including those located at the Newton and McPherson Outreach locations.

Responsibilities

• Personal counseling and crisis intervention
• Ongoing assessments to inform appropriate treatment plans
• Utilize multiple delivery systems for counseling (face-to-face, telephone, online)
• Support students in developing life skills
• Teach select classes (ED105 Success Seminar/College Orientation, ED115 College Orientation and Career Exploration, SO103 Stress Management, SO104 Assertiveness Training) with supervision
• Attend the New Faculty Teaching Academy
• Provide academic, career, and financial advising to undeclared and at-risk students
• Collaborate with HutchCC Retention Coordinator and Outreach team to implement retention procedures and strategies
• Assist with campus outreach, fairs, screening events, and celebrations
• Maintain resource materials related to academic advising and mental health counseling
• Travel between Hutchinson, Newton, and McPherson locations as needed

Requirements

This position is supervised by the Coordinator of Counseling and Social Work Services with coordination from the Outreach Center Coordinator and will perform other duties as assigned by the Coordinator.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work or closely related field
• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) preferred
• Experience in providing mental health services to college students
• Ability to teach select classes under supervision
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
