Michigan State University College of Nursing is seeking a College Alumni Coordinator to foster lifelong relationships between alumni and their alma mater, celebrating diversity and promoting engagement through events, communications, and board involvement.
Responsibilities
- Plans and coordinates college alumni activities and events, as well as other college events as assigned.
- Serves as liaison and manages the College of Nursing Alumni Board, acting as the official communication link between the College and the Board.
- Plans, coordinates, and assists with development events such as groundbreakings, dedications, campaign meetings, endowed chair/professorship investitures, and scholarship events, with a focus on diversity, representation, inclusive excellence, and equity.
- Facilitates the annual College Alumni Awards process, including promoting the opportunity, coordinating the selection process with an emphasis on equity and inclusion, and developing content on award recipients.
- Communicates with College of Nursing alumni through digital marketing, e-news, the College's Spartan Nurse Magazine, and maintains the alumni section of the College's website.
- Utilizes MSU central advancement and marketing resources, and collaborates with national marketing and communications professional groups to develop and implement a creative strategic plan reflecting principles of diversity and inclusion.
- Performs other duties as assigned, with flexibility to work occasional nights and weekends for college events.
Requirements
- Knowledge normally acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in business, marketing, public relations, communications, or a related field.
- One to three years of related and progressively more responsible work experience in higher education fundraising, event coordination, or public speaking; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid vehicle operation license.
Qualifications
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and database software.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Website content management experience.
- Volunteer management and organization development knowledge.
- Recent experience with strategic planning and operations.
- Proficiency with tools such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Ascend.
- Project management and journalistic writing skills (e.g., AP Style).
- Experience with digital marketing.
- Professional relationship building and maintenance experience.
- Experience with annual giving solicitation, planning, and techniques.
- Understanding of the importance of building lifelong relationships between the college and alumni.
- Experience in video production, including Adobe Premiere Pro (desired).
Schedule
- Standard work schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Occasional nights and weekends required for college events.
Physical Demands
Ability to lift 50 pounds or more, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing 25 pounds or more.
Remote Work
This position is remote-friendly, meaning some or all duties can be performed remotely as mutually agreed upon.
