About the role
The NYC Department of Design and Construction (DDC), Project Controls Division, is seeking a College Aide to support project controls efforts. The selected candidate will perform schedule and cost analysis, risk analysis, and various data analytics tasks including transformation and visualization. Analytical work may be augmented with use of advanced tools including artificial intelligence.
Responsibilities
- Support the development of a historical cost database
- Create a historical lessons learned repository
- Assist with schedule and cost estimating for capital projects
- Contribute to claims avoidance policies and procedures
- Update the Project Controls Guide
- Gain competency in historical project data, including schedules, costs, building information models (BIM), issues, risk registers, delays, and other project performance data to support planning and decision-making
Requirements
- Must be a student enrolled in an accredited college or graduate school
- Currently authorized to work full-time in the United States (U.S.)
- Must present original documents proving citizenship or the legal right to work in the U.S.
- Educational credentials must be from a U.S. Department of Education-recognized accredited institution; credentials from foreign institutions require independent equivalency verification
Qualifications
Assignment Level I: Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school.
Assignment Level II (Information Technology): Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or closely related field, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study.
Assignment Level III (Information Technology Fellow): Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or other area relevant to the information technology project(s) assigned, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study.
Special Note: Maximum tenure for all Assignment Levels in the title of College Aide is 6 years. No student shall be employed more than half-time in any week in which classes in which the student is enrolled are in session. Students may be employed full-time during their vacation periods.

Pay
$19.14 per hour
Schedule
- Part-Time - 35 hours per week (full-time during summer)
- Up to 17 hours per week during the school year
Additional Information
- New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
