About the role

Founded in 1997, Bottom Line is a nonprofit organization dedicated to partnering with degree-aspiring students of color from under-resourced communities. Our mission is to guide these students through the college application process until they graduate and start their careers. We aim to transform urban communities by producing thousands of career-ready college graduates.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one guidance to a caseload of 60-65 high school seniors.

  • Coach students towards a college list that meets Access Program standards.

  • Help students brainstorm, revise, and finalize college essays.

  • Support students in identifying and completing missing/additional application materials.

  • Guide students through the FAFSA and CSS Profile submission process.

  • Support students in making a financially responsible college decision.

  • Maintain ongoing communication with students and manage their caseload.

  • Attend and lead 60-minute meetings for 15-20 students per week.

  • Process student applications and provide support during the application process.

  • Support the Development team by attending events and providing logistics.

  • Represent Bottom Line in a positive light and increase brand awareness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

  • Excellent writing and editing skills.

  • Experience developing trusting relationships with students.

  • Valid driver’s license with access to a car.

  • Demonstrated commitment to Bottom Line’s mission, vision, and core values.

  • Proficiency in Bottom Line's seven core competencies: Relationships, Results, Communication, Inclusiveness, Talent Development, Agility, and Planning.

Qualifications

  • Fluency in a language other than English is a plus.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Effective time management and organizational skills.

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.

Pay

$52,800

Schedule

8.5-hour shift, including a daily ½ hour unpaid meal/rest break.
