Qualifications

Master’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university required.
Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience as a classroom teacher.
Previous leadership experience in curriculum preferred.
Valid Texas Administrator/Principal or Counseling certification preferred.

Terms Of Employment

Probationary/Term Contract: 220 days
Salary $76,684 (IA 4)
Salary Range (based on experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year

Major Responsibilities And Duties

  • Coordinate and facilitate all aspects of College Academy at all comprehensive high schools.
  • Serve as a primary liaison between Office of Advanced Academics and campus administration regarding College Academy communication and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Lone Star College for College Academy dual credit courses.
  • Review, revise, and update Personal, Academic, and Career Exploration (PACE) course curriculum as needed for College Academy and train teachers who teach these special sections.
  • Lead the district’s effort to continue and expand College Academy to all high schools.
  • Collaborate with grant office to find funding sources to support College Academy materials, tuitions, fees, and teacher training.
  • Identify and utilize research-based strategies to support students and increase the participation of under-represented student groups in College Academy.
  • Identify tools and provide resources that support academic success and college readiness (TSIA2, PSAT, SAT, ACT, etc.) so that students are ready to take dual credit courses.
  • Maintain high levels of collaboration with curriculum staff, counselors, and other departments to ensure that all students receive information, applications, and support regarding College Academy opportunities.
  • Facilitate College Academy parent informational meetings.
  • Collaborate with and support campus-based College Academy Advisors through training, meetings, data review, and progress monitoring.
  • Establish and monitor student progress data to evaluate the effectiveness of the program and the supports offered to students.
  • Facilitate middle and high school collaboration supporting students’ transition to College Academy in high school.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Advanced Academics

  • Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
  • Physical Demands: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
  • Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
  • Environment: Frequent districtwide travel
