Collector - SMRMC Patient Accounting

Responsibilities

• Perform follow-up on self-pay accounts to ensure payment is received from uninsured patients or convert the account to another financial payer
• Communicate clearly and efficiently by phone and in person with clients and staff members
• Maintain productivity standards and reports
• Obtain updated demographic information and all necessary information needed to comply with insurance billing requirements
• Forward updated information to responsible staff members for computer changes
• Operate computer to input follow-up notes and retrieve collection and patient information

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED Equivalent Required (effective 4/1/14 for all new hires)
• Customer Service experience required
• Experience in hospital collection experience preferred
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize needs to meet required timelines
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
