Full-time, nonexempt position in the Collections department at Emigrant Mortgage Company, reporting to the Manager of Collections.
About the role
Contact delinquent borrowers to determine the reason for delinquency and develop a strategy to cure the debt.
Responsibilities
- Monitor queue and call delinquent borrowers.
- Send delinquent notices, Demand, and Acceleration letters in a timely manner.
- Post payments and make adjustments or reversals as needed.
- Prepare waiver, DRI, and payment plan requests.
- Develop payment plans to cure arrears.
- Review collateral loan documents.
- Assist in monthly reports (Fannie, Freddie, PMI).
- Understand bankruptcy filings (Chapter 7, 11, & 13), including application of payments, filing Proof of Claim (POC), and basic comprehension of notices.
- Maintain professional appearance and demeanor.
- Understand credit reporting and credit corrections (knowledge of E-Oscar filings is a plus).
- Possess basic knowledge of CFPB rules and regulations regarding collections and loss mitigation options.
- Gather pertinent information to determine suitable loss mitigation options for individual borrowers.
- Respond to incoming calls, emails, mail, and in-person requests.
- Comply with company policies, practices, and procedures.
- Attend meetings and prepare follow-up as needed.
- Set goals, prioritize, and execute duties of the position.
- Manage documents, files, and electronic information in an organized, efficient, and secure manner.
- Interact with customers in a professional and pleasant manner.
- Represent the company professionally in appearance and manner.
- Communicate with the highest level of professionalism and integrity, both written and oral.
- Perform quality and quantity duties as expected for the position.
- Complete company-required training courses as assigned.
- Send loss mitigation packages to borrowers as needed or upon request.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university.
- One to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic personal computer skills.
- Strong numerical ability.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Honesty and integrity in performing responsibilities.
- Professional level of stress tolerance.
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment.
- Able to understand and respond appropriately to others in person or via communication devices.
- Able to manage emotional and mental state while performing job duties.
- Able to verbally communicate in English, thoughts, and questions at a reasonable level of articulation.
Pay
New York pay range: $60,000 USD - $75,000 USD
