About The Role Chapman Automotive Group is seeking an experienced Collections Manager to lead the daily operations of our Collections Department. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing department performance, developing and coaching team members, maintaining compliant collection practices, and driving operational efficiency. The ideal candidate has a strong background in first-party automotive collections, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for building high-performing teams. Responsibilities Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Collections Department to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. Develop, implement, and maintain collection policies and procedures while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. Recruit, hire, train, schedule, coach, and evaluate department team members. Foster employee development and support career growth within the department and organization. Manage collateral tracking for all loans to ensure appropriate protection of secured assets. Work closely with repossession agents and auctions to ensure timely recovery and liquidation of collateral in accordance with state laws. Maintain accurate collection records and oversee the management of collection software and systems. Evaluate delinquent accounts individually and determine the most effective strategies to return loans to performing status. Promote a positive, collaborative team environment focused on achieving collection goals. Collaborate with third-party partners, auditors, examiners, and company leadership as needed. Qualifications 5+ years supervisory experience in a first-party automotive collections environment or comparable financial institution. Strong knowledge of collection procedures, credit principles, and applicable collection laws and regulations. Excellent leadership, coaching, and team development skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to build productive relationships with customers, vendors, auditors, and internal stakeholders. Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational abilities.
