Collections Manager

About the role

The Heart Mountain Wyoming Foundation offers internships to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of nonprofit management, education, and community engagement.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the development and implementation of educational programs and exhibits at the Heart Mountain Interpretive Center.
• Conduct research and prepare materials for educational programs and publications.
• Help organize and facilitate community events and workshops.
• Support fundraising efforts and volunteer coordination.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a college or university with a major in history, education, museum studies, or a related field.
• Strong interest in Japanese American history and the World War II incarceration experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Qualifications

• Experience with museum interpretation and exhibit design.
• Interest in social justice and civil rights issues.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.

Skills

• Research and writing skills.
• Event planning and coordination.
• Public speaking and presentation skills.

Pay

The internship is unpaid but includes travel stipend and meals while working at the Heart Mountain Interpretive Center.

Schedule

Interns are expected to work approximately 15-20 hours per week, with some flexibility based on project needs.
