Collection Specialist
About the role
We are excited to announce an opening for the Collection Specialist at Hendricks Behavioral Hospital (HBH). This role is pivotal in our mission to provide exceptional psychiatric care.
Responsibilities
- Your primary responsibility is to ensure the timely follow-up and collection of payment including but not limited to third party payer receivables.
- You will be the main point of contact between the facility and third party payers to ensure maximum reimbursement is achieved and aging of receivables is minimized.
- You will provide timely follow-up and accurate collection of third party payer receivables.
- You will review, investigate, and troubleshoot open accounts in order to maximize reimbursement per department protocol.
- You will complete documentation of all collection activities in the accounting system per departmental protocol.
- You will recommend accounts for contractual, administrative, and charity write-offs to the Business Office Manager in a timely manner.
- You will identify and escalate issues to the Business Office Manager in a timely manner.
- You will complete a variety of clerical projects as assigned.
- You will adhere to facility, department, corporate, and standard policies and procedures.
- You will attend all mandatory facility in-services and staff development activities as scheduled.
Requirements
- Education: High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of collection experience in a healthcare setting is required or any combination of education, training, or experience in a business office environment. Hospital experience highly preferred.
- Knowledge: Working knowledge and understanding of insurance rules and regulations is needed. Basic familiarity with MS Excel.
- Skills: Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor is needed. Detail oriented and possessing strong time management skills is necessary in order to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

This is a full-time role. The salary scale for this position is $22.00 to $25.00 per hour.
Schedule
Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm
