Collectibles Partnerships Lead
About the role
As the Lead of the Collectibles Partnerships team at eBay, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our direction for a broad range of external partnerships and potential inorganic moves, with the overarching goal of driving growth and strengthening our strategic position in this priority focus area for eBay. You will partner with internal stakeholders across Global Business (Core and Live), Corporate Development, Product, Finance, Legal, eBay Ventures, and more.
Responsibilities
- Identify and develop strategic partnerships that drive growth and profitability globally
- Set the overall strategic vision for commercial partnerships and inorganic opportunities, defining how partners or targets align to eBay’s overarching goals and market position
- Serve as a thought leader and partner, working closely with the Collectibles Strategy team, Regional Business Units, executive leadership, and Product teams to deliver against strategic priorities and identify new, innovative ways to drive business growth
- Develop and manage partnership pipeline, providing leadership with strong recommendations and rationale on partner prioritization
- Lead contract negotiations and extensions with external partners, collaborating with eBay’s Legal, Risk, and Compliance teams to shape value-accretive deals and reach agreement in a timely manner
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, serving as the main point of contact and relationship owner for partners
- Proactively identify and address challenges or issues that may arise in partnership collaborations
- Stay up-to-date on industry developments and competitor activities to inform partnership strategy
- Serve as the business lead for Collectibles inorganic opportunities, working closely with Corporate Development on strategic rationale, synergy story, and integration plans
- Build and coach a strong collectibles partnership team to expand reach as a center of excellence, representing the eBay brand and values
- Monitor and track partnership performance and budgets, working with Finance and Accounting to provide regular updates and insights to senior management
- Act as a brand ambassador for eBay, representing the company in a professional and positive manner
Requirements
- Strategic leadership and vision to set a bold aspiration for Collectibles Partnerships
- Strong conceptual thinking to define the strategic rationale for deals and specific terms (e.g., market landscape, new trends)
- Execution mindset to drive partnerships through the deal process, including outreach, negotiation, and onboarding
- Deep expertise in contract negotiation, with the ability to create well-structured term sheets and assess negotiating tactics and trade-offs
- Ability to create refined strategic, executive-level materials around partnerships strategy and the role of specific deals
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills to assess and model deal potential (e.g., M&A synergy models, rates negotiations, trade-off assessment)
- Fast learning and willingness to dive into details of new and emerging business models in Collectibles (e.g., breaks, repacks, instant liquidity)
- Ability to function in an ambiguous and fast-changing environment
- Excellent stakeholder management to engage teams and build the best solutions
- Experience managing senior leaders, clarifying roles and responsibilities, and cutting through complexity
- Clear, succinct communication style, able to explain highly complex topics simply
- Team leadership, including coaching and mentoring
Qualifications
- 7-10 years experience in Strategic Partnerships, Business Development, Corporate Strategy, Management Consulting, or Investment Banking
- Consistent track record of negotiating and managing external partnerships
- Knowledge and understanding of e-commerce business models, industry trends, and competitive landscape
- Expertise in financial modeling in a partnerships or inorganic context
- Ability to create executive-level presentations and memos
- Collectibles industry interest and/or experience a plus
Pay
The applicable base pay range for this position is dependent on work location:
- San Francisco Bay Area, New York City Metro, and Seattle Metro: $178,800 - $238,700
- All other U.S. work locations: $135,200 - $219,500
Base pay may vary depending on location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may also include a target bonus, restricted stock units, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and paid time off).
