Job Description

The Job Description Collator Operator - 1st Shift is responsible for setting up and operating collating and/or labeling/patching machines to produce value-added enhancements to in-process work. Specific duties include:

  • Setting up and operating machines to collate from web rolls, affix labels, or patch windows to printed or in-process materials according to customer requirements.
  • Reviewing and setting up equipment to perform finishing operations such as assembling, perforating, stapling, gluing, folding, or cutting sheets of paper, forms, or signatures in specified sequences.
  • Performing safety inspections, documenting problems, and tracking production during operation.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret written work orders or other job specifications to determine the number and sequence of webs required to complete the work and to maintain dimensional accuracy.
  • Knowledge of the quality and machining requirements of various coated and uncoated types of paper stock.
  • Skills in setting up and adjusting machines for finishing operations and to refine such adjustments for the weight, color, machinability, and quality of paper stock being used to prevent machining impressions on the printed materials.
  • Proficiency in using the full range of standard and specialized tools and devices to adjust and maintain the functional accuracy and operating conditions of the collating machines.
  • Knowledge of the set up, operating requirements, procedures, capabilities, and limitations of the collating machine to perform the full range of standard and specialized folding, collating, and cutting of printed materials to complete a combined finishing product.

Additional Information

The pay range for this role at the noted location is $22.44 - $31.61 per hour. The actual rate of pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to, education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift, and location. In addition to the base salary, the total compensation package may also include a sign-on bonus, overtime, shift differential, call-in and stand-by pay.
