Specific Duties And Responsibilities
- Tear down, set up and operate multiple product lines to specified tolerances of hot or cold headers or trimmers to produce metal parts.
- Conduct First run inspection and periodic quality checks
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment including cleaning, lubricating, adding fluids, check air pressure and oil levels.
- Installs cold heading tooling in machines.
- Sets up and installs various support equipment.
- Computes feed length and progression to produce quality parts.
- Establishes processing parameters and sets monitoring equipment to ensure processing parameters are maintained to produce quality parts.
- Reads measuring equipment such as shadowgraphs, micrometers, calipers, and related equipment.
- Performs minor die repairs and modifications to include sharpening and adjustments to maintain integrity of parts.
- Runs wire through machine.
- Moves stock to and from machine.
- Moves containers of finished parts.
- Lifting to 35 lbs.
Skills And Formal Training Requirements/Experience
- 5+ years of experience as a header man
- Apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
- Able to read, comprehend, and execute directions from mechanical drawings.
- Able to measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
- Able to read blueprint or job order for product specification such as dimensions, tolerance, number, or parts to be checked.
