About the role

Circle of Life Academy is seeking a qualified High School Social Studies Teacher to instruct students in the assigned subject area while upholding the school’s mission. The teacher will provide engaging, relevant curriculum, a rich learning environment, and a variety of supports to promote academic success for all students.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a classroom atmosphere that facilitates learning and ensures high academic achievement.
  • Evaluate each student’s learning style and adapt the learning environment accordingly.
  • Maintain high classroom discipline in line with school rules.
  • Develop and implement high-quality lesson plans.
  • Collect, analyze, and use student data to improve teaching strategies.
  • Generate computerized student reports.
  • Maintain high academic standards and clear performance goals for all students.
  • Collaborate with administration, teachers, support staff, parents, and students to meet student needs and foster a positive professional environment.
  • Develop and maintain positive rapport with students, staff, and parents.
  • Stay updated on new trends and teaching methodologies through professional development activities.
  • Integrate Ojibwe Language and Culture into teaching units and lessons.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in the subject area or related field.
  • Eligibility for or possession of an appropriate Minnesota teaching license.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Knowledge of White Earth Tribal Council, Circle of Life Academy, and Education department policies.
  • Understanding of White Earth Reservation history, culture, and lifestyles.
  • Familiarity with curriculum design, teaching methods, and assessment of learning outcomes.
  • Knowledge of human behavior, learning styles, and motivation.
  • Proficiency in using technology for data collection, reporting, and student learning.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collect, organize, and evaluate student data.
  • Creativity in applying teaching methods.
