About the role

The Cognitive Performance Specialist (CPS) supports soldier readiness and wellness at Fort Irwin, CA, as part of the US Army's Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) program. The CPS works with a multi-disciplinary team to optimize Soldier readiness and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and advise the Mental Readiness Director/Occupational Therapist on developing, coordinating, executing, assessing, and managing cognitive performance optimization and mental readiness training programs.
  • Participate in capabilities briefs for unit and team leadership.
  • Develop and deliver training and instructional materials in accordance with H2F System, using evidence-based literature.
  • Train, educate, coach, and mentor Soldiers on cognitive performance and mental readiness.
  • Support leaders in applying goal-setting, performance profiling, visualization, performance development, and planning.
  • Collaborate with embedded behavioral health teams and conduct periodic literature reviews.
  • Track and document work performed and provide data to the Mental Readiness Director/Occupational Therapist.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or Doctoral degree in any field from an accredited college or university.
  • Possession of a relevant certification such as a psychologist with proficiency in sports psychology, AASP certification, or CMPC certification.
  • Three years or more of experience as a mental performance coach or sport psychology practitioner.
  • Knowledge of emerging best practices in the health and fitness industry.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship and valid driver's license required.
  • Access to U.S. Government facilities and systems required.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in evidence-based mental performance techniques.
  • Knowledge of emerging best practices in health and fitness.
