Cognitive / Behavioral Neurologist
Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC), a major academic medical center within the Hackensack Meridian Health network, is seeking full-time BE/BC Cognitive/Behavioral Neurologists to join the Center for Memory Loss & Brain Health. Both junior and senior positions are available, with the senior-level candidate serving as Center Co-Director.
About the Role
The successful candidates will have completed a Neurology residency and a UCNS-accredited Behavioral Neurology & Neuropsychiatry fellowship. Faculty rank at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine is commensurate with experience. The clinical focus is on patients at risk for dementia, mild cognitive impairment, and dementia.
The Center employs an interprofessional approach, involving neurologists, geriatricians, psychiatrists, neuro- and health psychologists, social workers, and rehabilitation therapists. The team is cognizant of healthcare disparities and provides patient-centered care, accurate diagnoses, state-of-the-art treatment, clinical trial opportunities, and support to maximize community living and prevent caregiver burnout.
This position is part of the CMS GUIDE program, an alternate payment model aimed at providing comprehensive dementia care to patients and caregivers in the community, improving outcomes such as ED visits, hospitalizations, and long-term placement.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical care for patients at risk for dementia, mild cognitive impairment, and dementia.
- Engage in outcomes research, basic & translational research, and clinical trials.
- Teach medical students and neurology, psychiatry, and geriatrics residents.
- For the senior role: Demonstrate clinical, programmatic, and academic leadership.
Requirements
- Completion of a Neurology residency.
- Completion of a UCNS-accredited Behavioral Neurology & Neuropsychiatry fellowship.
- Board eligibility or certification in Cognitive/Behavioral Neurology.
- Interest in research, clinical trials, and teaching.
- For the senior role: Demonstrated leadership experience in clinical, programmatic, and academic settings.

Pay
The minimum base salary for this position is $258,056. The posted rate of pay is a reasonable good-faith estimate of the minimum base pay at the time of posting, in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act. The final base compensation may vary based on factors including specialization, labor market data, experience, leadership roles, education, certifications, productivity, skills, geographic location, internal equity, and budget considerations.
