About this position: Coffee Shop Barista

• Taking client orders and receiving payment.
• Grinding and brewing coffee providing well-presented beverages.
• Developing expert knowledge of coffee and maintaining consistency and attention to detail.
• Collaborating with all team members.
• Maintaining a clean and sanitized shop environment while following health and safety guidelines.
• Operating point of sale system and contributing to establishments sales.
• Punctual and maintaining consistent attendance.
• Remaining calm and efficient during peak business hours.
• Performing additional tasks as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the establishment.

Required (Minimum Necessary)

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask.
• Respond well to instructions and helpful feedback.
• Hands-on experience with professional coffee machines (understanding or willing to learn general operation and sanitizing).
• Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices regarding expiration dates and quality control.
• Able to work variable hours such as early mornings, evenings, and weekends.

Necessary Physical Requirements

• Employees must always maintain a constant state of mental alertness.
• Standing for extended periods of time and pushing or pulling heavy equipment/supplies.
• Squatting, kneeling, sitting, bending, reaching and climbing are also required.
• Lifting of up to 50lbs, such as freight, coffee supplies, boxes, etc.

Work Environment

• Employees must always maintain a constant state of situational awareness.
• The job is performed in a coffee shop setting with exposure to hot liquids and requires extensive use of coffee and espresso machinery.
• Exposure to hot water and cleaning chemicals or solvents.
• Ongoing use of computer, keyboard, mouse and telephone system.
• The work described herein is primarily in a modern coffee shop setting.

Additional Qualifying Factors

• As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results.
• If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain and maintain the appropriate clearance levels required and must also be able to obtain access to military installations.
