About the role
1.0 FTE (40 hours per week), non-exempt position.
Pay
$21.44–$26.27/hour, depending on experience, with the ability to go higher for highly experienced candidates.

Responsibilities
- Identify, research, and resolve issues that impede the successful posting of clinical charges
- Post charges in Epic per coding rules and conventions
- Review charge documents for completeness and return incomplete documents to the source
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient demographics and medical and financial information
- Uphold Medicare, Medicaid, and HIPAA compliance guidelines in relation to billing, collections, and PHI information
- Report to work as scheduled, participate in assigned meetings, and meet performance standards
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
- Graduate of a medical coding program (preferred)
- Minimum six months of experience in healthcare coding or billing
- Experience with a healthcare practice management system
- FQHC billing or coding experience (preferred)
- Epic system experience (preferred)
- CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) certification (preferred)
- Ability to use and understand billing coding books and guides
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Knowledge of medical/dental terminology, data entry, and billing coding (preferred)
- Knowledge of accounts receivable processes (preferred)
- Maintain consistent performance and attendance standards
- Effective verbal, written, and listening communication skills
