Purpose Of Job
Improve the overall health of the communities we serve by efficiently and accurately coding and processing claims.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Reviews health documentation and records to extract and ensure appropriate codes, including CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10/HCC, are captured in the electronic health records system.
- Codes and completes charge entry into electronic practice management systems.
- Serves as a documentation and coding subject matter expert to support CHAS Health teams and providers.
- Communicates with co-workers, providers, and third-party representatives in a professional manner while maintaining confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations.
- Able to consistently adhere to established productivity standards required.
- Supports the CHAS Health Mission and Core Values.
Qualifications
- Education/Experience: Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or CPC-A credential combined with three years of front and/or back office experience in lieu of CPC credential required.
- Skills: Excellent communications skills required. Computer skills required. Commitment to supporting a safe and respectful environment is required. Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications.
Physical Demands
- Must talk, hear, and sit more than two-thirds of the day.
- Using hands occurs over two-thirds of the day, while reaching with arms occurs less than one-third of the day.
- Communicating is also required over two-thirds of the day, while climbing, stooping, or crawling is minimal.
- Lifting up to 10 lbs. occurs occasionally.
Compensation Range
Compensation Range: $25.67 - $37.70
Job Description
This hybrid position includes scheduled in-office days to support team collaboration; requirements may change based on evolving business needs.
