About the role
The Town of Farragut seeks a full-time Codes Officer to enforce adopted building codes, conduct inspections, and maintain records.
Responsibilities
- Inspects residential and commercial construction
- Conducts residential plan reviews and field inspections
- Communicates with contractors, property owners, and design professionals
- Ensures required permits are obtained and issues stop work orders
- Investigates complaints and prepares reports
- Maintains up-to-date on code changes and ensures uniformity in the construction industry
- Represents the Town of Farragut on boards as needed
- Assists with maintenance of assigned town vehicle
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Five years of experience in building construction, engineering, or code enforcement
- State of Tennessee Building, Plumbing, and Mechanical Inspector certification within twelve months of hire
- Valid driver's license in the State of Tennessee
Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of standard building and general construction codes
- General knowledge of legal procedures related to the enforcement of ordinances and codes
- Skills in reading and interpreting blueprints, site plans, and ensuring compliance with ordinances and codes
- Ability to create and maintain records and reports
- Ability to operate standard office equipment, hardware, and software
- Ability to attend building code training courses and building inspector association meetings
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various stakeholders
Skills

Pay
The starting rate of pay is $32.74 (min) to $40.92 (mid) per hour.
