About the role

The position involves coding and abstracting ICD-9 and CPT codes for diagnoses and procedures on ambulatory visits. This includes using 3M encoder and grouper, verifying codes in books, and maintaining a daily productivity log. The coder may also interact with physicians and other health professionals.

Responsibilities

• Codes and abstracts ICD-9 and CPT codes for diagnoses and procedures on ambulatory visits.

Requirements

• Preferred certification as a Certified Coding Specialist, but experience is considered.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, and ICD-9-CM and CPT.
• Minimum one year outpatient Medical Records coding experience required.
• Typing skills helpful for use of computer keyboard.
• Good communication skills essential.

Qualifications

Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, and ICD-9-CM and CPT is required. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with a minimum of one year of outpatient Medical Records coding experience.
