About the role
The position involves coding and abstracting ICD-9 and CPT codes for diagnoses and procedures on ambulatory visits. This includes using 3M encoder and grouper, verifying codes in books, and maintaining a daily productivity log. The coder may also interact with physicians and other health professionals.
Responsibilities
- Codes and abstracts ICD-9 and CPT codes for diagnoses and procedures on ambulatory visits.
- Uses 3M encoder and grouper as well as verifies codes in books.
- Maintains a productivity log daily.

Requirements
- Preferred certification as a Certified Coding Specialist, but experience is considered.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, and ICD-9-CM and CPT.
- Minimum one year outpatient Medical Records coding experience required.
- Typing skills helpful for use of computer keyboard.
- Good communication skills essential.
Qualifications
