About the role

This position is under the general direction of the Director of the Health Information department.

Responsibilities

• Assigns diagnostic and procedural International Classification of Diseases (ICD) 10, Clinical Modification (CM) classification codes for inpatient/outpatient and Ambulatory surgeries.
• Determines Diagnosis Related Group (DRG) assignments for selected cases.
• Analyzes medical records for quantitative and qualitative standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology preferred.
• Ability and willingness to demonstrate and maintain competency as required for job title and the unit/area(s) of assignment.
• Excellent communication skills to include oral and written comprehension/expression.
• Ability and willingness to work with patients’ growth and development needs particularly related to the age of patients in the unit/area(s) of assignment.
• Ability to manage a challenging work environment related to changing patient needs.
• Maintain a high level of customer service, being aware of both internal and external customers and meeting their needs and expectations.
