About the Role
Coconino County is seeking an Engineering Supervisor to oversee engineering projects and staff within the Planning, Community, and Economic Development department.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the work of engineering staff, including reviewing and approving designs, plans, and specifications.
- Manage capital improvement projects from inception to completion, ensuring compliance with County, State, and Federal regulations.
- Develop and monitor project budgets, schedules, and resources.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on engineering matters to County departments, contractors, and the public.
- Prepare and present reports, recommendations, and presentations to the Board of Supervisors and other stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and best practices in all engineering activities.
- Coordinate with other agencies, consultants, and stakeholders on regional projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Five (5) years of progressively responsible professional engineering experience, including at least two (2) years in a supervisory or project management role.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Arizona, or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire.
- Valid Arizona driver’s license and ability to travel within the County as needed.
- Knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and techniques related to public infrastructure projects.
- Experience with project management, budgeting, and contract administration.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Experience working in a government or municipal setting.
- Familiarity with GIS software, AutoCAD, and other engineering design tools.
- Certification in project management (e.g., PMP) or related field.
