About the role
The COBRA Generalist performs a variety of administrative tasks to support the day-to-day operations of the COBRA team. Specific tasks include entering, updating, and verifying data in our benefit administration system and ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance of work. This position also assists with preparing correspondence and maintaining benefit enrollment records.
This person may work in our Middleton, WI office, fully remote from their home office (Wisconsin locations only), or a combination of the two.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and send eligibility records to insurance carriers as directed by regulation and corporate standards
- Process all COBRA forms for individual participants with a high degree of accuracy
- Maintain and update benefit administration system with account changes
- Manage and respond to emails in the COBRA helpdesk to maintain service level agreements while providing exceptional customer service
- Administer open enrollment audits to ensure accounts have been set up correctly
- Set up new client demographics and account profile information
- Process entry level rates for COBRA contracts
- Process entry level participant takeover accounts and provide support for takeover checklists as needed
- Process various accounting functions such as manual payments and refunds
- Facilitate the resolution of service issues in a professional manner
- Perform outbound carrier calls to assist in reinstating coverage
- Maintain, update, and proactively manage CRM database, documenting each client interaction and action item in a proactive, compliant manner and in adherence to department standards
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- One year of previous related administrative experience in a corporate setting
- Demonstrated exceptional attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time management skills with proven ability to multi-task in a high-paced environment
- Strong customer service skills
- Proven ability to adapt to changing business software applications and processes
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Basic proficiency with database navigation
Qualifications
- Experience working with COBRA and tax-advantaged benefit plans
- Experience using CRM platforms and workflow management
