Responsibilities

  • Weigh proper amounts of feed for up to 10 hoppers with up to 100 pounds in each hopper, monitors water consumption and weighs birds that weigh up to 15 pounds each according to schedules
  • Cleans waterers and walls, sweeps (scrape floors if needed), maintains egg room in a clean state and performs other routine housekeeping duties
  • Records information according to instructions such as egg numbers, (line & source on the egg), bird weight, medications, feed intake, and mortality
  • Inspects poultry for diseases and euthanizes selected or weak/ ill, per approved company policy; removes dead poultry from flock upon discovery
  • Collects eggs from individual hens and legibly records hen number on each egg and hen production card. Use scanners to record egg collection data for each hen. Pulls down eggs to prevent breakage. Handles flats of eggs that average 10 pounds per flat and move/lift 40 pounds egg crates
  • Maintains biosecurity and animal welfare standards by following company guidelines and policies
  • Performs other duties, responsibilities, and activities as assigned

Requirements

  • Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no additional job gaps in employment greater than 6 months in the past 36 months
  • Previous work history will not apply to applicants who have been full-time students consecutively for the last 36 months
  • Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 180 days
  • Rehire Rule of no more than 3 times worked at Cobb/Tyson Foods
  • Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.)
  • Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Must use safe lifting techniques
  • Must regularly stoop/bend down to bottom cage (approx. 2’) and reach top cage (approx. 5’) to collect eggs up to 1,000 times per shift and weigh individual birds
  • Must regularly lift above shoulder level and/or move, while stepping on and off ladders, up to 30 pounds to move items such as feed buckets
  • Must be able to hang and pull-down male feed cups
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk majority of shift (concrete floor); sit; use hands to handle or feel objects and controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; climbing/ladder usage; talk or hear; drive a vehicle within the farm complex
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus
  • Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and in hot, dry, dusty, wet, icy, snowy and cold environments
  • Personal Protective Equipment Required: Safety goggles, safety glasses, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and company issued footwear are required
  • Ear plugs will be used as required
  • Chemicals Commonly Used: Disinfectants such as Synergize, Virocid, Lysol, bleach, Clorox wipes hand sanitizer, etc

Pay

$18.00 per hour plus additional shift differential for evenings, nights and weekends

Schedule

4 days on / 4 days off – Rotating including holidays. Hours: 6:30 am through 4:30 pm. Start and end times may vary. Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.
