About the role

Responsible for all warehouse, materials, and inventory control functions for a specific area of operations. Receives, stocks, picks, and distributes parts and materials used in manufacturing operations. Verifies inventory accuracy through the execution of counting activities including daily cycle counting. Maintains a clean, safe workplace. Must be a customer-driven individual who is self-motivated and detail-oriented. Works most often alone supporting the specific area of operations with little to no assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of materials and inventory control for the assigned area of operations, including:
    • Receipts
    • Put-aways
    • Custody, control, and care of inventory
    • Physical issue of parts and materials (picking, kitting, and bundling when required)
    • Inventory management and record keeping (including cycle counting, variance reporting, adjustment reporting)
    • Transactional issue of parts and materials
    • Completion and closing of manufacturing orders
  • Adequately labels and maintains an organized inventory with accurate records.
  • Puts away parts, components, and materials in the correct inventory locations, safeguarding them from damage.
  • Actively participates in stock counting activities such as cycle counting, location audit counts, and fiscal year-end inventory counts.
  • Actively participates in ensuring the workplace is safe and clean.
  • Operates equipment including but not limited to forklift, pallet picker, utility truck, banding tools, corrugated compactor, pick-up truck, and other various warehouse tools and equipment as required to complete assigned tasks.
  • Picks and stores parts/material at ground level and at heights up to 16 feet using mobile stairs, forklift, and/or pallet picker as required.
  • Delivers parts to internal customer departments in the form of parts kits, Kanban stocking, or bulk delivery, as instructed.
  • Transacts materials and parts issue and associated processes within MS Dynamics.
  • Loads and unloads parts/materials from freight trucks using forklift and/or pallet jack. Loads and unloads small package shipments from courier trucks by hand.
  • Uses computer and other office technology tools to prepare and/or transact pick lists, packing lists, inventory transactions, shipping documents, and other daily requirements.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work accurately, quickly, efficiently, and safely.
  • Must be able to follow instructions, processes, and procedures and work well with others.
  • Must be able to operate forklift, pallet picker, and other equipment in a safe manner.
  • Must be able to communicate (speak, read, write) in the English language in a clear and legible manner.
  • Must be able to use mathematical techniques to calculate data or solve practical problems.
  • Must be literate and comfortable using computers at the basic and, in some cases, intermediate levels, including but not limited to: MS Dynamics GP, MS Excel, MS Outlook.
  • Must be able to use/read a tape measure and weight measurement tools.
  • Must be team-oriented and interact well with others.
  • Must be customer-driven in approach and execution.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and documents in English.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to internal customers, peers, supervisors, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance, with and without the use of a calculator or computer.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • Must be certified, or able to be certified, to operate powered industrial trucks.
  • Must be certified, or able to be certified, in all aspects of hazardous materials controls.

Physical Demands

  • Typically stands for 6-8 hours and walks for 2-4 hours during a 10-hour workday.
  • Drives for up to 2 hours per day.

Work Environment

  • Typical 10-hour workdays with overtime as required.
  • Required to work indoors and outdoors, year-round and in all weather conditions.
  • May be required to access stored product at a variety of heights up to 16 feet.
  • May work alone for extended periods.
  • May be required to work during production shutdowns or other "off-schedule" periods to conduct special activities such as fiscal year-end inventory counts.
  • Exposure to heat/cold, dust/dampness, height, chemicals, and noise.
