Coating Technician - Red Dog Mine, AK - Rotational

Cleaning Duties

Cleans grease and dirt from products
Removes rust from metal surfaces with blasting agents
Applies masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated
Fills cavities and dents with putty to attain smooth surface
Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce desired color
Pours coating liquid into spray container and connects gun to air hose
Turns sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width and pressure of spray
Pulls trigger and directs spray onto work surface to apply prime or finish coat
Cleans spraying equipment and brushes with solvent

• Regularly exposed to airborne particles and outdoor weather conditions
• Frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of radiation and vibration
• Occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; work in high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock
• The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms
• Frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Occasionally required to sit and talk or hear
• Steel toed boots required on the job

Travel Requirements

Travel may require an employee or contractor to pass a TSA security checkpoint. If the employee or contractor does not have valid identification, they will not be able to travel until valid identification is obtained and verified. For this reason all Red Dog employees and contractors must have valid identification when traveling to and from the mine, for a list of TSA approved valid identification visit here.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent or ten (10) years related experience will be considered
• Minimum two (2) years directly related experience
• Plural component spray application experience
• Alaska Painters Certification required
• Reliable transportation to get to job site
• Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy preferred
