About the role
Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are actively looking for an Entry-Level Coastal Engineer to join our Baltimore office.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Apply coastal models to study waves, currents, and sediment transport
- Aid in coastal engineering design, including living shorelines, shoreline stabilization, and flood resiliency projects
- Prepare engineering plans, specifications, and quantity estimates
- Support marine terminal design efforts through computer model simulations of floating vessels
- Conduct data and engineering analyses and GIS mapping
- Perform field work as needed
- Prepare written reports
- Collect and navigate field data
- Implement scientific and regulatory tasks to ensure compliance with environmental laws, regulations, and policies, including NEPA, Endangered Species Act, and Clean Water Act
- Assist with various project types such as wetland restoration, dredging, waterfront structures, coastal and environmental protection initiatives, and marine terminal design
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Coastal Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related field, Graduation date on or before December 2026
- GPA higher than 3.0
- Prior experience with coastal engineering software such as AQWA, WAMIT, OrcaFlex, DHI MIKE, Delft3D, OpenFoam, Flow3D
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or GIS
- Ability to write technical reports and analyze large datasets
- Programming skills (MATLAB, Python, etc.)
- Understanding of probability and statistics

Pay
Base Salary Range: $36.00 to $40.00 per hour based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting the required qualifications in the job description.
