The Opportunity:

The Native Coalitions Manager will connect the Democratic Party of Wisconsin with the Indigenous and Native American community. They will build durable organizing power and deepen engagement in historically underrepresented communities ahead of the 2026 elections.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Outreach & Relationship Management: Manage and execute a targeted outreach plan for the Indigenous and Native American coalition. Host recurring meetings with community leaders, local elected officials, and new stakeholders to build trust and power.
  • Event Execution: Plan and host community service initiatives, voter education events, and coalition-specific actions. Represent DPW by implementing high-traffic canvassing at relevant community events and cultural festivals.
  • Capacity Building: Provide strategic support to assigned constituency Caucuses and execute efforts to recruit and build volunteer leadership within the coalition.
  • Cross-Departmental Integration: Collaborate with the Organizing Department to establish culturally competent, coalition-specific community canvasses and phone banks. Advise on relational organizing and volunteer recruitment programs.
  • Intelligence & Messaging: Provide crucial context, memos, and briefings for principals and high-level surrogates ahead of community events. Maintain statewide lists of contacts for outreach and storyteller engagement.
  • Special Projects: Execute special projects assigned to the Political Department, such as State Convention assignments or surrogate tours.
  • Accountability & Solution-Oriented: Take full ownership of your actions and commitments, holding yourself to a high standard and seeing objectives through to completion. Approach challenges with a problem-solving mindset, focusing on solutions rather than pointing fingers.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork: Work as a team, support teammates, and share knowledge freely. Break down silos by connecting across teams, inviting different perspectives, and staying open to new ideas to achieve shared goals.

Qualifications (Required):

  • Community Expertise: Proven ability to work within these marginalized communities and advocate for the needs of that community. Also having a deep connection to your assigned coalition.
  • Relationship Management: Proven ability to effectively build and manage relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders (elected officials, local influencers, businesses, non-profits, or grassroots groups).
  • Cultural Competency: Deep understanding of how to build authentic relationships across lines of difference, and the ability to apply an inclusive lens to political strategy.
  • Project Management: A relentless goal-orientation with the ability to multitask, managing large community events alongside daily 1:1 outreach.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional interpersonal skills and a positive, customer-service attitude when communicating with people from various backgrounds.
  • Transportation: Access to reliable transportation and willingness to travel statewide.

Qualifications (Preferred):

  • Campaign Experience: Prior successful experience conducting outreach for a political campaign, government department, or advocacy organization.
  • Native Communities and Governmental Expertise: Demonstrated experience working directly with Tribal governments and navigating Tribal laws, policies, and governmental processes.

On-year Requirements:

Working outside of normal work hours; including canvassing and other election-preparation as necessary.

Pay Range:

60,000 - 67,000 USD per year (In Person - Milwaukee (Lisbon))
