Coach - Various Stipend Positions - Seasonal

Job Summary

St. Theresa Catholic School is seeking coaches who fulfill the mission of the Catholic school and church by assisting as head coaches in all aspects of team management and player development. This role involves assisting with training sessions, providing skill instruction, and helping to create a positive team environment. Coaching positions are seasonal and paid by stipends only. Positions are available on an as-needed basis and may be available for the following athletic team offerings: Cross Country, Flag Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Soccer, Track & Field, Tennis, and Golf.

About the Role

The employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the School leaders in the performance of their ministry and, therefore, engages in ministry for the Church. Essential job duties include supporting and upholding the philosophy of Catholic Education and the mission of the school and church, acting as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church, adhering to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school, parish, and diocese, maintaining confidentiality regarding school and church matters, modeling professional conduct and sensible sportsmanship while instilling these characteristics within team members, teaching essential safety skills and strategies to student-athletes; monitoring safety compliance, including heat and extreme weather guidelines, following school and CAPPS policies regarding academic eligibility, safety guidelines, and transportation rules, instructing athletes about proper strategy, skills, and rules of the game, using approved, corrective, and positive discipline procedures in dealing with inappropriate student conduct, collaborating with school personnel and supporting academic programming, performing administrative tasks as required by the athletic director, and performing other related tasks and attending meetings as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum Qualifications: High school or equivalent education, previous coaching and/or playing experience preferred, valid driver's license, completion of Play Like a Champion - Coaches' Workshop, and various training(s), including but not limited to Concussion Training and Bloodborne Pathogen Training.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of adolescent physical development, sport skills, and regulations, expertise, knowledge, and competency in the fundamentals of the sport, strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work collaboratively as a part of a coaching team, flexibility to work non-standard hours, including early morning, evenings, and weekends, ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form, ability to work well with others in the school community, skill in handling multiple tasks simultaneously, skill in motivating and engaging student-athletes, skill in organizing and relating information in an understandable format, skill in job-appropriate app technology - Eventlink, skill in critical thinking and planning.
