About the role
Link Transit is seeking full-time Bus Drivers (Coach Operators) to connect people to essential services. As a Coach Operator, you'll provide reliable, safe transportation to your community.
Responsibilities
- Operate transportation service vehicles on specified routes according to specified time schedules.
- Perform demand response services, assisting riders from their doorsteps or Link route stops to their destinations.
- Provide information to passengers about transit routes, city street locations, time schedules, and points of interest.
- Greet passengers in a courteous manner and assist with boarding, seating, and related matters.
- Secure mobility devices and inform passengers of transit policies and procedures.
- Prepare required paperwork, such as manifests, lost and found tags, and reports of accidents, incidents, and equipment malfunctions.
- Monitor mobile communications and report any unusual conditions.
- Instruct coach operator trainees in proper driving habits, loading passengers, and other policies and procedures.
- Drive assigned transit vehicles according to an established schedule, ensuring safe and efficient service.
- Work patiently with and demonstrate sensitivity to the elderly and individuals with disabilities.
- Resolve customer complaints courteously and tactfully.
Requirements
- A strong work history.
- A valid Washington State Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
- Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school/GED.

Qualifications
- Education and experience: High school/GED, excellent employment history with strong customer service background, and a satisfactory driving record.
- Knowledge: Oral and written communication skills, interpersonal and customer relations skills, ability to learn and explain standard transit and paratransit operating practices and procedures, and safety rules and procedures.

Pay
Salary Range: $27.24 to $34.86/hour
Schedule
Hours Of Service: Monday–Friday: 4:25 am – 9:55 pm
Saturday: 6:25 am – 8:00 pm
Sunday: 6:30 am – 8:45 pm
Additional Information
May be required to install and remove chains during snow season.
May be assigned to other duties related to service operation and public information as needed.
Prior Commercial Driver Experience - Not a requirement for consideration for Coach Operator openings.
